I have, and will doo the inspection anytime, but I won't put a sticker on my ski that clashes with it's factory color. LOL

I got mine last year and wasn't really bothered by any form of law enforcement. I launch out of Port Jefferson (Long Island) and was stopped by the police, for a "safety check" only one time. I was pretty surprised to see all of the "authority" figures there are...
Suffolk County PD
Marine Unit PD
town constable
harbor patrol
Coast Guard
DEP police (green uniforms)
and a few others.
spend 5 minutes, get a free "inspection" and get the sticker. I say it's worth it

I actually had to explain to one of the aux guys that i didnt need to have flares, etc, etc, on my jetski, but he freely admitted he normally doesnt check out pwc, but since it was slow he figured why not, and after he checked it out he realized i didnt need alot of stuff boats need. but i dont mind spendin 5 minutes at the dock doing it than on the water in the waves. lol

If water pigs are waiting for people who don't want to be inconvenienced by the VOLUNTARY inspection, move to a free country.

A police badge works pretty well in these situations too. LOL

I have one on both of my boats, but it is from 2004 -- the last time the Coast Guard retirees cheched me at the dock.

Gladly obliged, didn't figure it would be a big deal -- and it wasn't.

Yeah, that makes sense.

they are not required, but those who refuse them usually dont have a whisle, flag, and other safety items that may be required. But with the sticker, I seen cops come up to me, look at it, then pull some one else over with out it to conduct a safety vessel check. When on the dock, it just so obvious for the cops/harbor patrol... they are watching a waiting...cha ching

I've got one, but why are they getting pulled over?
Are the inspections required where you live?
They aren't here in AZ, at least on the lakes. I haven't been to the Colorado River (Havasu) for awhile, it's the only Federal Waterway nearby so I'm not that well versed in the Federal Stuff.
I certainly have nothing against the inspections, I think they help wake up some folks to the fact that laws do exist and safety is worth some effort. It takes some boaters awhile to figure that out.

by me, the auxilury coast guard asks you to do a free check on the dock. If you pass, you get the sticker. If you dont pass or refuse it, there is a police boat waiting in the water, once you get 10 feet, they pull you over. It is so funny waching all those hot shots/idiots refuse it, get pulled over, get tickets and have to trailer their ski and leave...love it
