sorry about all the double posts.
I was thinking that there had to be more to the problem, i have seen N/A 4tecs for sale locally with over 500hrs on them.
So this is not a known issue that i have to be looking out for on my own machine and i should steer clear of this particular boat.
Thanks for the info/help

Yes, to change out the Rotors and Bodies in a 4-Tec Oil Pump and Oil Scavenging "pump" it almost always requires removing the entire engine to gain full access. That is where the high total bill comes from. There is no reason to replace a 4-Tec Oil Pump unless there was some sort of very abrasive contamination in the Oil System causing scoring on the inner Oil Pump Rotor -- Like a Ceramic Supercharger Clutch "Plate" coming apart --- which wouldn't happen on an NA 4-Tec. There is more to this story he isn't telling you or doesn't know. The 155hp N/A 4-tec is one of the most reliable low maintenance engines for Jet Boats out there.

The only obscure maintenance item around the 100 hour mark most people neglect is the Fuel Filter replacement.

hey, hope everyone had a good season.
I have an 07 GTI and im wondering if there are anythings that i should be starting to look for now that the machine is 5 years old. I had the dealer do the first few winterizations and oilchanges before i moved then bought an oil pump and have been doing them myself ever since. oil has never went more than 10hrs before a change.
reason im asking is that i was looking at a 155hp sportster used and the seller indicated that the oil pump(s) had been replaced among other things (says there was $3000 worth of work done). He stated that he was told this is the norm for the 4tecs. Im kind of shying away from that particular boat now, but it has me thinking if there is anything i should be looking for myself this fall. Im only at 61hrs total, and the 155 boat was only at about 85 hrs.
thanks in advanced
