Does anyone feel like chiming in on why the rave selenoid cycles 2 times when it's shut down but the valves themselves do not move?

You gotta ask yourself...

... where does the Compressor draw it's Air from ?

Updadte:.. I just pulled the line going from the air compressor to the selenoid and a bunch of greyish oily gunk came oozing out of the compressor fitting.WTF?

Ok so I started the ski and shut if off with the stop button. Had the caps off the rave valves and my hand on the top of both valves. I heard the selenoid cycle 2 times but the valves never moved. Now does this mean the selenoid is leaking internaly or is there not enough preasure to move the valves at such a low rpm?

when you stop motor (leaving key on), do you hear the raves cycle?

If not, I'd test that solenoid..

Checked the WCV. Hose connection were tight and the bellows look brand new. No cracks, splits or holes.

Thanks David HX. Will check the WCV and the rave selenoid. Maybe two problems going on here

RAVE Valves wont limit your RPM's much- just how quick the engine gets there.

I would be checking the Water Control Valve (underside of the Bellows) for cracks, holes or leakage. A malfunctioning WCV will definitely limit your top RPM's. It's the "RAVE Valve" looking device on top of your Muffler but it totally different inside and has a totally different function.

You should hear the RAVE Vales cycle (twice) when you first plug in the Lanyard Key.

The RAVE Solenoid can be tested with a simple 12v Connection to the Plug.

Going on my third tank of gas and I always put new plugs in for the first ride of the year.

You said storage, is the gas a year old and has stabil or not? I'd drain the gas, and install new plugs, DI's like new plugs

Forgot to mention it's a 951. But I think thats a given

2001 GTX DI. Rebuilt engine about 40 hours ago. After taking it out of storage this year I noticed im only hitting 5900 rpm tops.Pulls out of the hole great and runs smooth all the way up to 5900. Ive cleaned the raves and they are sliding smoothly. Took hose off of selenoid and rave bodys and im able to suck air through the one way valve and not able to blow through it. Checked all hoses for holes and made sure I have tight connections.Manual says if you take the caps off the raves and put the key on you should see the raves open then close. Has anybody ever tried this and actually seen them move? Mine do not.Im wondering if it's the selenoid but im not sure how to test it.Im new to working on these so go easy on me. Any help is greatly appreciated.
