Quick and easy is all I can say. Plus local shop that doesn't really know what he is doing promotes it. Found out a late too late. Live and learn- and read forums! :) now I'd just like to getting running without a lot more coming out of my pocket.

I don't understand why soooo many make the choice to go SBT. It's a crap shoot...

Oh ok so is there a way to check the ignition timing in my garage with a timing light? Or does it have to be completed with the Mpem programmer?

Well, I am speaking *Ignition* timing, not rotary valve timing, although rotary valve timing is important too. But it is simple to get right.

Going to check the Rotary valve next. I read somewhere that SBT documented the opening position wrong and wonders if the shop didn't use the incorrect degree verses the shop manual.
Do you think a bad ignition coil would have this affect?

Has the ignition timing been set/verified since the engine swap? The RFI is very sensitive to proper ignition timing. Few shops of any quality will be able to "do it while you wait" this time of the season. I ask where you were to see if you were near someone that I KNOW can solve/diagnose it quickly. Closest I know to you is in NJ! Heck we maybe closer! The timing is very critical....maybe some shop would at least do that while you wait, we would if ask...

You are right about throwing money at that started prior to the reman due to a maint light that I couldn't solve.
I live mid state of Ky. Every dealer near wants me to leave it and the will try and figure it out. I don't want those kind of fees at this point.

The engine should be pressure tested at this point. You have thrown a fortune in parts at it, time to get back to basics 101.
Now these engines DO idle kinda funny, but not like you are discribing, that's to much.
Where are you located? State, City?

I am at a loss any suggestions would be greatly helpful.
As posted before bought a Reman engine from SBT - still has ran properly in idle. Surges in between 600-1100 RPMs in the water and out of the water up to 3400 RPMs. Already replaced fuel injectors, fuel filter, TPS, APS, and crank shaft sensor. Local shop has a Can Doo Pro and has tried to set the TPS- not for sure if he did know what he was doing... Can the Can Doo Pro make the proper adjustments for the TPS?
Or does anyone have any other suggestions on what the sporadic idle could be from?
