Not that I ever herd of. It sounds like a good idea but it would reduce the volume of water the drive needs and still plug up with weeds.

Is there a screen that can be purchased to cover the impeller so that weeds can't enter the chamber on a Challenger?

I usually idle my ski out to deeper water and jump in and pull them out. No easy way to do it.
If there is just a few weeds you can go to deeper water and reverse your boat and then shut it off and put it in forward. Sometimes this will back flush the weeds off the grate if they are not too bad.

You said it ... don't go there in the first place. Shallow water (rocks getting sucked into impeller) and weeds are your worst enemy. If you have to go to that particular spot, maybe use a paddle !

If you have a spot that you put your 180 Challenger in that is weedy to start with, what can you do to avoid getting weeds caught in impeller (besides avoiding that mooring). If you do get weeds do you caught do you simply have to get boat back on trailer to remove them? Any tricks to get them off?
