Buddah,

Probably just as quick as all these back ordered timing chain parts, Huh?? LOL!!!

i know that rider, and she is no lake putter. Just goes to show you, maintenance and rider make a differenc.

Tiny,
They are coming in slowly, but only to the dealers that left them as a back order at BRP.
Limited quantities are being shipped now.
We are receiving some next week.

SCs can last a long while...like Tiny says, if the ski is ridden with the right considerations. Most people I have seen don't come off the throttle when they are unhooked. It takes a little practice for it to become second nature, especially if you ride in a lot of choppy water. But I can tell you from experience, IT MAKES A DIFFERENCE. My '08 P-X is on its original clutch...at 460 hours. I will rebuild soon because the grease in the bearings must be nearly done at this point from use...but no premature failures here!

RotaxMECH,

If you have the 102 kits use them sparingly!!!!

They are on back order with no known date of availability!!!!!!

Maybe for some I prefer the 7600-8040 range!!!!! bahahahah. Glad I got the newest updated washers.

I have received a couple of BRAND NEW superchargers this week and they don't have the same washers as in the 102 kit... ??? And to HUEY, we keep the items needed for your motor in stock as most good dealers do. Only takes a couple days to get what you need. It's the labor.. up to 8 hrs... It's a one day job...

 Buddah posted: 6/13/2012 12:26:05 PM

supercharger failures usually happen out of the blue, and usually when your day just can't get any better. BAM all the sudded you are a floater.

Some of these failures are definitly due to rider caused high reving conditions, but if you look at the over-all operating range of these units you will see that most people spend very little time at W.O.T.

Most common RPM operating range is around the 5000 to 7000 RPM range.

I sure hope I got a Wednesday ski. lol

I suspect WOT is fine provided you stay hooked up.. wavy conditions or wave jumping where there's no water in pump and it spins freely, bumping rev limiter as it gets loaded with water again.. can't be good.

What would be considered on the throttle too long?

... good advice

 Tiny posted: 6/12/2012 9:12:30 PM

To be totally honest with everyone...

If you know how to ride, the SC will last you a very long time!!!!!

If you pin it to win it and never let off the throttle, then be prepared to have it in the shop all the time...

The better you take care of it, the better it will take care of you....

I have a 2009 RXP and at 43 hours the SuperCharger bearing just failed and trashed the motor. Thank GOD I bought the 4 year warranty, but now I'm going to lose a critical month of riding in an already too short Michigan season!!!! What the heck is WRONG with Sea Doo that they can't make a SC that lasts and WHY does it take them so long to get replcement parts to the dealer??!! 3 to 4 weeks to get parts, are you freakin kidding me?! I am VERY sorry I bought this machine...

 ROTAXMECH posted: 6/10/2012 9:09:30 AM

I have gone through 35 motors now that have had supercharger problems. Only recently have I seen the bearings fail...I have ALSO recently seen a few other things that has me wondering just WHO is assembling these ROTAX engines. I do recommend purchasing an EXTENDED warranty...for ALL the IC units...

I thought the SC clutch was the part that needed to be watched. Just bought a 2012 GTX 215, should I get worried now? Also any warning signs to tell if a problem is starting? Does the clutch have to be replaced at 100hrs or just checked?

 Tiny posted: 6/9/2012 7:19:08 PM

We saw a 2012 with 7 hours on it that ate the front bearing!!!!

No way would I trust those little bearing to 200 hours!!!!

 Buddah posted: 6/9/2012 10:38:37 AM

Just had a charger out of a 2008 that the front bearing had spit a ball out of the race, but it got wedged between the housing and the shaft causing damage to the wheel/front and rear housings and bent the shaft.

49 hrs on the machine after S/C rebuild by another local shop.

Be careful who works on your stuff.

 ROTAXMECH posted: 6/9/2012 10:19:42 AM

I have seen three SC this week that have failed. The front bearing has failed and was ingested into the engines... I don't believe that they were CORRECTLY installed. Make sure that your Supercharger is rebuilt by a Reputable dealer.. or ship it to PPG and they can install the new 102 kit that has a 200 hour service interval.
