SO....the driveshaft can vibrate/flutter back and forth causing the carbon seal to leak??...and of course the grease and pump oil will dampen that effect..??

There is one on each end of the driveshaft. It is worth looking taking apart to see. When was the last time you greased the driveshaft?

Also, install a neoprene ring between the pump and the hull. I purchased a roll of armatex, if I remember correctly from RONA and cut it to size. The roll is the same price as one from the dealer.

Des,

Have you checked both drive shaft boots? I just went though the process on my XP. Take out your drive shaft to inspect the inner one. It is easy to take apart. Yours might be burnt up due to lack of grease. The shifting of the drive shaft could cause the intermittent cavitating.

well here ya go .. new solas prop and wear ring ..for the first hr or so ran real well .. no cavitation out of the hole , great midrange pull and a few extra mph top end .. while it was apart i found the a pump had an axial fin broken off about the size of a loonie..(silver dollar)so top end still not there .. about 52 mph.. then after a few good 360 spins some pounding the thing started to cavitate again real bad...hardly pull itself onto plane ...seem to hook some then cruise ok ..
get this if I shut it off and restart it then would hook right up and pull hard out of the hole just fine ..till I pound it around some ..then back to cavitating again...
any ideas ?????
wtf

keep on doo'n
